Since 1981 we have expanded into Lisbon at the São Carlos Theatre and at the Naval Museum. In 1998 we began our catering activity in which we achieved such prestige that we began to organize events at the highest national and international levels. We cannot fail to mention the ceremony of Macao’s transfer from Portugal to the Republic of China on the 19th September 1999 where we served dinner for 2,500 people. The historical event itself, the size of the event, and the huge responsibility as well as the distance and logistics were the great challenges for this event.

In 2000 we built our headquarters near the Beloura Business Center. It is a 4000 m2 building boasting a fully-equipped, 800m2 central kitchen with all mechanical requirements for a national and international catering license. This made us the first company in Portugal to have the license for this activity. The remaining space was partitioned into storage areas for materials and food, a show room and offices. For years we maintained the same structure but then realized it was necessary to reinvent ourselves.

The success and demand from our customers was so great that we divided our catering service into two sectors: Silva Carvalho Catering and Silva Carvalho Restauração. The former is now managed by the company Ibersol, and the latter by the company Sintramar.

In 2012, we acquired Sintra’s most emblematic hotel, the “Hotel Central”, which will be renamed “Central Palace Hotel” following renovation works. Renovation of the bedrooms however is still pending authorization from the Council.

We currently have four dining rooms available in the main building of the hotel on the ground floor:

  • One room accommodating 30 people
  • One room accommodating 60 people
  • One room accommodating 120 people
  • A terrace accommodating 120 people

On the first floor we provide a multifunctional room, which is often used for dinner parties hosting up to 80 people, as well as our Terrace Lounge, which accommodates 120 people, and has been commented in the media as a place not to be missed.

These rooms have been extremely popular, mainly for weddings and private parties.
